Though the remodel looks nice, this hotel has lost some of its original Japanese soul. The rooms have been spruced up, not formally re-designed. I found there was wasted space where a chair could fit comfortably. The retrofitting of the hotel has left exposed pipes in the hallways. It does not look cool or industrial, it looks unfinished. The staff was friendly but rather cool and aloof and for nearly $400 a night there are so many other hotels I would preferred to stay at in San Francisco. Staying in room 1507 with my brother. two double beds and a balcony. The room is amazing. Clean tidy. plenty of room for us both. There is a glass door for the shower but it's hidden by the wall so it's still private. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was a little expensive but it's a hotel so what do you expect. There is a Spar around the corner if you need supplies. I've stayed in a few hotels and this in my opinion is one of the nicest. I would without hesitation stay there again.

The hotel is beautiful, the food was great (we had all of our breakfasts here), but the room we got was pretty small and there was no door for the bathroom. I think it's a bit expensive.

Everything is perfect. But did you run out of building material? Toilett doors that gives no privacy. Awkward. And as a European I'm used to have a toilett brush in the WC.
