I am giving this business one star because that is about all they deserve. I brought in my laptop to get looked at a few years back they informed me that it would cost more for me to fix my laptop than replace it so that is why I think they deserve at least a star, for their honesty. You mentioned that the hard drive had another name on it that you didn’t recognize. We label drives with customer names specifically to avoid this type of situation... Hard drive failed on a critical computer for the business. They were able to recover all of my files and had everything up and running in less than 2 days. I was so impressed with their service that I also had them build a new pc for me with redundant hard drives. Would recommend them to anyone.

Gal up front is very nice, they were to check the computer over before beginning, I believe if that would have been done, to find out why it was slow - which indicates a virus, a lot would have been easier. They lost all of my pictures etc. A great part of me is Gone! The person doing the work was not a techy.
Love this place! They are so helpful and knowledgeable and I have never had a problem they can fix immediately! Highly recommend this efficient and friendly staff!

Not even a day after getting my brand new HP laptop in the mail it broke on me. HP claimed it was a hardware issue and said I needed to send it in for repairs which would take ANOTHER 2 weeks to do. Hometown Tech was able to identify and fix the problem in less than a week for around $100. It wasn't a "hardware issue" like HP had wrongly assumed. I was looking for someone to fix my very naughty, gone rogue Mac. I was told by another shop that no one in Ames works on Macs. They were wrong!!! I called Hometown Tech who said bring it in. A few hours later Olivia called with the verdict asking for approval to fix it. A little while after that, my computer was fixed and for a VERY reasonable price. Yay!!! Same day service and inexpensive. I will use them again if the need ever arises.
