Recently moved to Ashtabula, and this place was recommended by a friend. So I decided to give them a try and went to grab lunch, ordered fried shrimp and scallops and was not disappointed. Lightly breaded, perfectly fried, and tasted better than anything I've ever had before (elsewhere). It was delicious, and the cocktail sauce was wonderful. Visited Hil-Mak Seafood Restaurant tonight for the first time and it was delicious! Had the Black Grouper, lobster bisque and my husband had the blackened Mahi Mahi. Definitely worth the drive from Mentor!
Had a party of 2. We ordered the smoked salmon as an appetizer, shrimp scampi, and stuffed shrimp. Honestly had better at Red Lobster. The shrimp was undercooked for both plates, a definite lack of seasoning and flavoring for both, service was sub par. Atmosphere was good but food quality did not match expectations after seeing all the positive reviews.
Terrible!!! Party of 4. Only 2 waitresses on staff. Food delivery was extremely slow and inaccurate. We also found a hair in our fries. Couple behind us got up and left because they sat so long with no greeting. A definite “no go”!

Visited Hilmak Seafood restaurant this past Saturday with my friends and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The food was fresh and delicious. Thank you to the owners for letting us eat at such a late time of evening. Was getting a good meal before heading back home to the a Cincinnati area. Spent all day on the beaches look g for beach glass.
Went here since I can remember. Wonderful seafood at price/quality combination that you simply can’t beat
My mom and I were so happy to have found Hil-Mak on a recent day trip. The food was top-notch and we will definitely be back!!
