On Thursday when we checked out the car, they told us at the desk to make sure the man at the gate inspected our vehicle to note any prior damage. We had noted for ourselves that there was damage on the driver's side door. The man at the gate marked this, took a look around the vehicle, and signed off our paper. Worst car rental experience I have ever had. My connecting flight to Pittsburgh canceled so I asked to have my reservation transferred to BWI where I was stranded. Got to the front of the line and was told that I would need to call the 800 number. In total spoke with 5 people at the desk and 2 representatives and a supervisor in India to finally get the transfer accomplished. Absolutely the worst car rental company I have ever dealt with long lines waited an hour and a half to get my car that was reserved and they told me they didn't have any Plus unwanted charges that I had no idea were coming go someplace else

Zero star if it was allowed. Very bad experience today @Hertz Dulles airport: after a 3 days car rental booked in advance 208$, I got charged 600$ extra when returning: the clerc when I pickup the car gave me a supposedly "free upgrade", while tricking me in signing a document, hidding it among signing the other classical documents. As I did not expect such practice and the guy did not tell me any thing on extra cost, I signed without reading. This is pure robbery. Hertz: STOP these scandalously shocking business practices.

Long wait despite employees standing around, car had previous damage & extra charges appeared even though we prepaid in full. Never again.

I pre rented (prepaid for $162.00) through a third party, a vehicle to pick up at hertz in Philadelphia airport and when I picked up the vehicle the person I talked to of corse was up selling, I agreed to gas$50 and insurance$31.99 ...he said my total with a discount was $210.51...WELL he charged $210.51 for upgrades that I didn't agree to plus the car rental for a total of $411.00 and that's on top of the $162.00 that I had already paid! Update to my Hertz saga... Gerald, the manager, called shortly after my posted review!😊 He explained that the $200 will not show as an actual return deposit... it will just vanish as though the charge was never made. So I will own my share of ignorance regarding how the $200 is charged and credited. I bank with PNC and I am accustomed to seeing debits and credits listed by dollar amounts. I no longer keep a check book so physically deducting and a ding and knowing an actual check balance is something I honestly don't c... read more

As a business owner, I do not usually resort to negative reviews about a company if they effectively communicate with me first. However, if I do not hear back from the manager Gerald by today. stay tuned to a very long negative report and dissertation regarding my latest experience with this company. Just for starters, if you purchase the rental through Priceline, be prepared to make a $200 deposit... one that they claim is returned by 12 midnight one your rental contract is closed.
