I added the navigation system to my order as I am not from Texas and had several meetings to attend in various places. The afternoon of my first full day of the rental I'm going down the highway and it shuts down, never to be powered up again. So I'm on a highway in a state I don't know heading to an important meeting and now have no idea where I'm going. It was extremely frightening and I was 30 mins late to my meeting. I left my cell phone in the rental car when I returned it to Hertz at Tampa International. I spoke by phone with someone at the counter who told me my cell phone was there, but I had to fill out a report online in order to have the phone sent back to me. I filled out the form and sent it in and 4 days later there is no mention of the phone in the online lost and found. I have phoned several times to request help, but it seems no one can help me. Rarely if ever do you get the car you book, and if you have to travel more than a mile to the drop-off after filling up the tank for return, expect a HEFTY added charge. In short, dealing with Hertz hurts.
On Thursday when we checked out the car, they told us at the desk to make sure the man at the gate inspected our vehicle to note any prior damage. We had noted for ourselves that there was damage on the driver's side door. The man at the gate marked this, took a look around the vehicle, and signed off our paper. Worst car rental experience I have ever had. My connecting flight to Pittsburgh canceled so I asked to have my reservation transferred to BWI where I was stranded. Got to the front of the line and was told that I would need to call the 800 number. In total spoke with 5 people at the desk and 2 representatives and a supervisor in India to finally get the transfer accomplished. Absolutely the worst car rental company I have ever dealt with long lines waited an hour and a half to get my car that was reserved and they told me they didn't have any Plus unwanted charges that I had no idea were coming go someplace else
