Staff are very disrespectful. The clerk stole my copayment. Make sure you get a receipt. Do yourself a favor, find another urologist.

Generally good. There may be more sophisticated doctors out there but Dr. Herman is a down-to-earth and a hard worker.

I was referred to Dr. Herman for a kidney stone. I was not aware of options and accepted his recommended treatment from him which I later found out was not the standard of care as prescribed by the American Kidney Foundation. Dr herman did 3 procedures and I still was not stone free. I found a competent urologist and am now stone free after only 1 procedure. I was also informed by a medical professional that he is not a good doctor and it is time for him to retire.

Dr. Herman eschews metabolic testing, leaving such decisions to non-specialized primary care providers or others. In my case, only my adamant questioning got me close to a genuine treatment for a serious condition. I had to seek help through internet research and persistent questioning of others. Continuity of care was poor to non-existent.

Although his facility could use some updating, we go to Dr. Herman because he is an honest, caring, and knowledgeable professional. I don't rate doctors based on their decorating skills! If you have an urinary issue, Dr. Herman is the go-to guy.

The Shadyside clinic is not luxurious (as harshly described by other reviews), but is clean enough. Costs are controlled. Dr. Herman is open, knowledgeable, and compassionate. I like the man. After referral by my family doctor, and some testing, he detected and treated my prostate cancer. He likely saved my life. At the least, the quality of my life has been enhanced with the peace of mind that my disease has been put in remission by the treatments, and will not progress into bone cancer.

I expect that he is a competent doctor but his waiting rooms and especially his examination rooms are nothing less than disgusting.

Wow. Where can I begin? This establishment is quite a shady business. Not only is the facility unclean, the billing practices are questionable, and the knowledge of the doctor is not up-to-date. He and his staff are rude and inappropriate with another in front of patients. I swear he's sleeping with the receptionists. In addition, I noticed documents with personal medical information that were dropped on top of the trash. Steer clear of this place!
