I worked at the Haydel's bakery in the 1980's at the Kenner store when it closed I went to the Jefferson Hwy. Bakery. King cake season crazy busy there was one cash register and a 'whose next' system. Non stop customers. I got a kick out of my job cause we sold a great product and the people all had a story to tell about their Haydel's Cakes and Doris always bought the large Haydel's Large King Cake.Loved my job!!!
Amazing! Best king cake experience I have ever had with super sweet staff. This was a much more pleasant group of people than Randazzo's. I am not from New Orleans and know hardly anything about how to find a good king cake, but knew I wanted one, and I do know a lot about what I expect in a good king cake. Haydel's is awesome, inexpensive and I will go back. We got the strawberry cream cheese (AMAzING). Next time, by recommendation from the staff, we will get the praline pecan. Was my first time buying a king cake from a bakery. Was pretty good. I prefer more icing & less sugar. May have to request that next time. Now, petit fours a the bomb �

I called one morning to ask if they had a praline/pecan filled king cake as a gift for someone that was only going to be in town for one day. And I was told that management would not allow them to go to the front of the store to find out. Can't believe I'd have to drive 45 minutes for a "merchandise check" as we call it in retail. This is why great businesses go under...someone else will come along with the idea "to service customers" and put them out of business.
Excellence continues to be served ~ the ladies behind the counter were absolutely delightful and service was prompt and courteous ~
