I really wanted to like Haven but the owner was so rude that at first I thought he was joking. Perhaps when they get really busy he just can't handle the pressure and forgets that we, the customer, pay his mortgage!
I had an amazing dinner here last night. We had a beautiful night so we sat on the outdoor patio which is quite lovely. The service was incredibly attentive. I think my water glass was filled up 4-5 times during dinner. Our waiter was knowledgable, professional and friendly. The food was outstanding. The Yellow Gazpacho is not to be missed. It is tangy, velvety, sweet and garnished with basil oil and a scoop of guacamole. Terrible Experience!! – The only thing nice about this "yuppie" restaurant is the atmosphere. First of all, the service was terrible. The waiter barely spoke to us and never came around to check on us. He was too busy waiting hand and foot on the obviously rich people eating there. His attention to them was endless, meanwhile we waited 15min after we finished our meal for him to ask if we were done. Great food and service – Had dinner with another couple and really enjoyed ourselves. We had a drink at the bar and then were promptly seated. The hostess and server were very nice and knowledgeable. We ordered the appetizer special, zucchini blossoms, they were outstanding. Salads are pretty standard, dinners were flavorful and hot when they arrived. We also shared desserts that were great. No complaints. I would go more often but it is a little pricey for a casual evening.
Great restaurant – I took my girlfriend here for her birhday and I could not say anything bad about this place. The service was great, the food was great and I might add the haystack was fantastic. Will definitely be going back here.
Good food but Service is SLOW and prices are too HIGH – Went for a casual dinner with the family. Got seated promptly. The service was very slow although courteous. Here's the beef: Wine list is mediocre + Mark West Pinot for $10 a glass. The stuff retails for $8-$9 a bottle! I don't mind $10 for a good glass but Mark West! Dinner was good although not great for the price. The 3 of us had the potato hay which was good, split a salad and 3 entrees + 1 dessert. Consistently unattentive bartender – I have been to Haven about five times. The one dinner experience I had there was very good. Selection is broad and service was attentive. The bar scene is a whole different story. I have had the same bartender every time and to sum it up he is a snob and acts like he is doing you a favor getting you a drink. Great food, casual atmosphere – We've been to Haven once and really enjoyed our dinner. The poached shrimp appetizer with horseradish-tomato puree and avocado was delicious and light for summer. My husband raved about his surf&turf with scallops and brisket - a unique twist on the standard. I had the seared tuna and risotto with fava beans, which was lovely, but I think he ordered better. 2nd Visit and Will Definitely Keep Going Back – Again, another delicious meal (had visited in the spring). Note the clam strips, though categorized as a small plate, will serve at least 4 people as an appy. I was a bit disappointed that the tomato and zucchini tartlet was not on the menu. Will definitely be back in the spring when it is. I'm not a fan of lamb, but the lamb chops were delicious. The soup of the moment was vegetable minstrone and was perfect for the chilly evening.
