great food – I loved the food. The number on the listing is incorrect though. The actual # to Harold and Belle's is (323) 735-3376.

A neighborhood gem and if you love perfectly fried food this is it! Great atmosphere – In a neighborhood where one wonders if there are any good sit-down restaurants at all, Harold and Belle's is a gem. There is a prerequisite: you must not be on a diet or have any known heart blockages... The food is very tasty and don't even bother to avoid the fried stuff. If you don't eat fried food very often and you want to indulge, do it at this place because you will not regret it. We went on a weekday with reservations for four. We ... read more

Amazing Food! Great Service. Lots of Food! – We have been to Harold and Belle's twice and both times the service was amazing! Their Gumbo was amazing! The Spicy Crawfish Popcorn Po-Boy was enormous and tasty! The Jumbalaya was a creamy masterpiece! The Pork chops with Red Beans and Rice was delicious! The Shrimp and Crawfish Etouffee was stupendous as well! The Fried chicken and Clam Chowder were also delicous. If we have to drive out of the way, we always order extra entrees or sides. This is the best Creole/Cajun food we h... read more

A Los Angeles Landmark... – ... that actually still lives up to the hype. Delicious creole and southern food in gigantic proportions. A wonderfully stocked bar that mixes stiff cocktails that rev up an already lively party scene. No matter what part of the country you're from you'll recognize the real soul food going down at Harold and Belle's!

WOW! Large portions, great food! – where do i begin? first off, the portions are HUGE! i ordered the grilled pork chops with rice and beans -- it came in TWO PLATES -- one for the 3 chops, and one overflowing with rice and beans. i thought the chops were done nicely and the beans were really, really yummy! someone else got the catfish dinner and it came with 10 or so pieces -- and again, it was really, really good. the shrimps, apparently, were also good. i had the peach cobbler for dessert and the ice cream was good; but, i... read more

Local favorite of folks looking for gumbo and a French Quarter party--without leaving L.A. – In Short What started as a pool hall serving only rice and beans has matured into rooms of well-dressed diners figuratively headed to Bourbon Street. The mostly Creole, slightly Southern menu features fried food in massive portions, such as po'boys, catfish strips and platters of chicken and mixed seafood. Spicy gumbo, jambalaya and grilled meat and fish dishes are also popular orders. For dessert, diners rave about the warm bread pu... read more

Interesting experience, good food – The neighborhood is not the most glamorous, but since they have a big valet parking lot, you don't have to worry about getting into trouble. We definitely stuck out as first timers to harold and bell's when we walked in. But everyone was really friendly and we were soon enjoying our southern fare. The portions are definitely huge and impossible to finish. The interior is nice, but I wouldn't say first class, like some of the trendy places in hollywood. So if you think you are going to get ... read more

The best! – This is by far the best Cajun/Creole resturant me and my husband have come across. Harold & Belle's seems so out of place in the area it is in. You would think it would be a resturant in a fancy neighborhood. Don't be fooled. This place is worth going too. It can get a bit crowded, but the wait it worth it. They have a pretty good menu with anything from sandwiches-frog legs. Their jamabalaya is to die for! Ever peice just melts in your mouth. And the portions are quite large as well. I've never been able to fini... read more

Good food; Slow service – I'm from the South, and this is the most authentic Southern food I've had in L.A. I had the shrimp and crawfish etouffee, and it was pretty awesome. The clam chowder was also some of the best I've ever had. It was a little on the pricey side, but the portions are huge. The servers were friendly, but rarely came by our table. But overall, it was a good experience. I would definitely go back.
