H&B is cool............ – Okay I love the shrimp and I am from NOLA and it is okay. The bread pudding is not like my grandma's but, if you don't know what good pudding is then it is okay. The service is the worst especially if you get Terri's table. Pure g***to, slow and not one apology.....the asst manager is my buddy and if you are a female you get better drinks from the bar than the guys lol....
BEST Louisiana Food outside of New Orleans in Los Angeles area – Crawfish Ettufee appetizers and dinner are to die for. The chewiest crawfish..not dry. Bread pudding was good. But crawfish, bread, etc..WHEW!! Good...BUT..and there is a but...Pricey. Big plates, but -pricey. Appetizers range in the high teens. Great personalities at the restaurant. Very community atmosphere. Two people cost $120- and that's with 2 $10 drinks a piece. Pricey. But good.
Okay, but not worth the high price – I haven't been here in awhile but I do remember the food being really good. The problem with this place is that it is so small, you feel like you are eating with the whole restuarant and not just the people you came with. And the prices are really too high for the amount of food you receive. I love to eat and I have no problem with spending good money on good food. However, I do have a problem with not getting enough of what I order but plenty of stuff I can make at home (i.e. white rice)... read more
Red Beans and Rice. – There is no other restaurant in Los Angeles that has Red Beans and Rice like Harold and Bell's. Always order them, with anything you order...you'll never be disappointed. I'd love to know how they make them. I would eat every night at this wonderful restaurant if I didn't care about my weight. The crab cake sandwich is to die for. The fish is unbelievably fresh and the the warm, cozy and inviting ambience makes coming to this establishment all worth the trouble of driving through the traffic to get ther... read more
Good food, but pricey – I'm from down south, so maybe that's why I'm surprised at the prices of this place. I was told that it was an upscale soul food haunt, but I've never had to pay so much for a soul food dinner. Aside from the price though, the food was tasty and the portions are large. It's a nice place to go, but it might not be a great value.
I've tried better Cajun for half the price they charge at Harrold's and Belles – I love food. And for $30 a plate I expected Harrold's and Belles msut be amazing. The food was ok but it was not worth the price. I went with a group of 6 people and no one was happy with their food. I felt so bad I payed for everyones dinner since I chose the place. We had gone to the House of Blues to have dinner a few weeks earlier and we absolutely loved the food and the prices there were half what they charge at H & B and the plates are big... read more
They spoiled our 10 year celebration! – Let me start by staying that I like the food at Harold and Belle's. Because I like the food, we made reservations for my book club which consisted of 20 women to go there and celebrate. Reservations were made way in advance. When we called to confirm the reservation and to discuss details for our 10 year celebration, they told us they gave our reservation away to a party of 8 people. When asked why, they told us that it was due to the fact that there was no deposit made so that the roo... read more
Great Food - Fun Dining Experience – Harold & Belles is one of my family's favorite restaurants. We especially enjoy the seafood combo. But be warned, the portions are huge. The seafood is never overcooked, is seasoned perfectly and is always fresh. We joke that they must have live fish swimming in tanks in the kitchen because that's just how fresh the seafood tastes. Yummy! I typically shy away from potato salad, but make an exception here. They do a pretty decent job on their potato salad. Their chowder is excellent! Not t... read more
