I should know better. 1/2 price for Sushi can never be a good thing. – We made the mistake of going to this place because we were hungry, wanted Japanese food and it said "1/2 Price Sushi". You get what you pay for. The beer was 1/2 price and you can't go wrong with that. I've been to many sushi places and I have to say this was the worst. Great sushi, very casual – I live right down the street from this place and I love going here. The sushi is great. My favorite is the tuna lover roll w/ spicy tuna and avocado on the inside and seared tuna on top. It's so good and it comes with a small seaweed salad on the plate, which I also love. I'm not a huge fan of the maki rolls, which are always half price. Each time I've ordered one, I haven't really enjoyed it. It's usually sloppy and just really plain. Food below average. Service is terrible. – This restaurant is below average among the Japanese restaurants I have been to. Sushi and rolls are so-so. BBQ beef rib is not good, too hard and chewy. I had to ask for knife to cut it. The service is the worst. There were two waitresses. They were no where to be found. My wife and I waved hands, but we couldn't get their attention. One of the best sushi places on the Westside – I (and my boyfriend and my family) have been coming here consistently for the 2 years or so since Hara opened. I've had consistently great food, and have been impressed with the congeniality of the sushi chefs and the staff (though I'll admit some waitresses are a bit annoying, i.e. forgetful - but the chefs are darling). EAT THERE DONT BELIEVE THE OTHER REVIEW – I have dined in many places mainly 5 star restaurants but this one can easily compete with the best sushi places in town for half the price. The food is VERY FRESH and its clean the free soup tastes great and the ice cream w/ some chocolate syrup is excellent. I am not sure what the other person is talking about. DON'T EAT HERE!!! – If there were ever words to live by, they would be "don't ever try to get a deal on Japanese food." It was an overall bad experience! The service was mediocre (our waitress was inattentive and forgetful) and the food was awful. My salad was inedible (the dressing might have expired...) and the quality of the meat was bad.
