Have someone come out and provide a quote for work that needs to be done and ensure they are clear on what they can do and how long it will take. Make sure they provide detailed information so you and the company are on the same page. Ensure someone is home while work is conducted to monitor progress and make sure work is completed to your satisfaction, otherwise contact management.

As the owner, I inspected the work that was done. All of the work was done well. The front door was adjusted to latch properly, touch up painting was done perfectly, and a crack in the master bath was taped, floated, textured and painted to match perfectly. We charged her for 4 hours instead of 5.5 hours for any confusion on the scope and time to complete the work. We went out of our way to make things right due to any confusion on the scope. Jason went right to work to remove the old post concrete. He had the right tools for the job. He carefully aligned the gate latch on the new post and cleaned up well. My only surprise was the $50 service fee on top of their hourly rate.
Jim did great work and was highly professional. He was very conscientious about the work and cleanliness of the job. My only advice would be to stay away from a price by the hour and not by the job. I felt like the craftsman was under pressure to utilize all the time that was estimated. Other bids were by the job, but I cannot guarantee that the job would've been done as well. We are very happy and satisfied with the work and quality of the job done and would definitely consider HM for future Home Improvements.
