This was one of the worst experiences I had ever had hiring someone to work in my home. I explained that I needed two ceiling fans wired and installed in areas with no light fixtures. We value customer service and fairness. We were happy to compensate you for the light fixture, charge only 50% for our labor fees for the services that were completed, and waive the service fees.

They sent a handyman over within a few hours of me using Home Advisor. He looked at the deck and fixed it right there and then after picking up some supplies at Home Depot. It was a really simple project - just replace some boards, but I don't have the time or tools to do it efficiently myself. I thought the cost was on the high side, although I did appreciate a 5% discount on the labor. Called HM on a Friday and they had someone out on Monday to give us a quote. Showed up early!! After assessing the project, we agreed to a project price. This involved painting/replacing a few exterior trim boards and reattaching a soffit. I later received an update from my wife that we were charged almost double the original quote!! We are very sorry that there was a misunderstanding regarding the scope and price to complete your job. The quote we gave you was a time and materials quote, not a flat rate quote. The craftsman did not include painting of the fascia and trim board in his original estimation, just the carpentry repairs. So, when asked if he would paint, he should have been more clear that it would increase the cost because it would take more time to do that work too.
