If I could leave a 2.5 rating I would. I'll start off with the positives, because I think that they have the big issues well taken care of. First of all, the floorplan design is VERY well thought out. You can tell the subtle differences between floorplans of houses made a decade or two ago compared to these designs. They make VERY efficient use of space in areas where it matters, and the placement of things makes it feel bigger than it is. Another positive is the insulation. We been in this house for a year now. I wish we could give the house back to Hakes and go with a different builder. Shoddy work and poor customer service has been an ongoing theme with this company. All of the floor and bathroom tile work throughout the house was very poorly done. Failing grout, damaged and hollow tiles, and raised/sunken tiles abound. We have had them in our house at least 5 different times to fix the issues but they keep sending people that don't know what they are doing and end up causing more problems. ... read more
