Eri Kuwayama is hair goddess – Eri Kuwayama has genuine skill and a natural grasp of beauty and aesthetics. I was very happy that ELLE did a small article about her some years ago. I have straight Asian hair and my husband has tight curly hair that nobody can cut beautifully except her. Her prices are still so reasonable ($45) and the stalon is hip and understated. There is absolutely no BS. Usually stellar hair salons have that viva glam, ripoff, crap assistants, snootyness. Not Eri's place. I discovered this place just by ... read more
Great! – This place is wonderful! The staff is very polite and nice, and they did a great job on my hair. And it was only $50 for a shampoo, cut and blowdry. They are also very accomodating...even though I arrived practically 20 minutes late, they still fit me in without any hassle.
outstanding haircuts in a modest space – I had thought that my stick-straight hair doomed me to never having an interesting or stylish haircut, but Shin gave me the best cut I've ever had. (I wish I'd found him back when I had short hair and kept getting one expensive, mediocre haircut after another.) For the first time in my life, I understand what it's like to have a great hairstylist. I'd recommend him to anyone.
cozy, small salon; talented scissors – With three chairs in a bare room, the salon doesn't look like much. But the women who cut and color hair here are super friendly and sweet, and I've never had to wait long for an appointment. Seiko cuts my hair with extraordinary care, unlike some high-priced stylists I've overpaid to hack away blindly at my head and leave me with an uneven, butchered mess to gel into shape. The style grows out marvelously. When (out of habit) I came in for a trim a month after my first cut, Seiko said,... read more
i love hair kuwayama – i've been going to hair kuwayama for almost 3 years now and it is wonderful! i went on the recommendation of a good friend, who always had kickass hair, and she directed me to chinami - now i am a loyal fan. the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable - there are only 3 seats so it feels like you're at a friend's place. while the stylists' english may not be the best, they still always know exactly what you want. =)
Finally!! – I should start off by saying that I have very straight hair, which is why I've always felt safe in the hands of capable Asian stylists. I made my appointment the day before, and there were plenty of time slots available. At the time of the appointment, Chinami took me almost immediately after I walked in. I brought a picture, but she also had a binder with pictures full of suggestions for my haircut. She was able to cut my hair exactly like the picture which 3 stylists had failed to replicate before her. For $50 ... read more
a bargain, to boot! – this is a wonderful salon. just a few chairs make for a cozy ambience. seiko is a stylist with a feather touch. she is just great at what she does. this salon is affordably priced, and yet i did not compromise my cut. this place is bound to become a keeper for all who experience it once. don't think about it... make an apoointment and go!
Punchpacking – Wandering around trying to find a place that would cut my hair, in desperation I stopped in here because although it looked great, it seemed far too packed to fit me in. I was mistaken. They not only fit me in, but cut my hair exactly to spec (which was that I gave vague directions for a mood and trusted them and their abilities). I walked out with my hair exactly as I wanted it, and for a fraction of the price of other places in town. Top notch.
