Dissapointed – I have been going to this place over 3 years now. It was one of my favorite places in the city, until my recent visit. It's good that they moved to nicer place and everything, but they changed the whole staff, and let me tell you, they need to get their people back who worked there before. Complimentary hair! great music! lots of light! – I have been coming here for over 4 years. The new space has great energy & great light. I had a new cut and everywhere i go people stop me to ask me where I get it cut. I reccomend Sieko--especially if you like real down to earth hair stylists who are cool and conversational!
Uninspired Hair Cut – So, I used to frequent this salon when I lived across the street, (1994-2000) back when the East Village was a village and not the commerical mecca that we see today. probably won't return – i don't get the hype about this place at all! though there was plenty i liked about it- unpretentious staff, no pushing products on you- it just wasn't worth the price i paid for it. even though i gave them an idea of what i was looking for, i feel like they tend to go towards a certain style (which I can only describe as "the asian bob") because it seemed like almost everyone else in there was getting the same style. overall, the experience and cut were fine but i've had better cuts for a more reason... read more
new location: 406 East 13th Street!! – I love this place. I've been coming here for years after a recomendation from a friend. Now at least 4 of my friends get regular haircuts here too. They just moved so note the new location on 13th between 1st and A. It's a lot bigger now and they have more services also.
Great hair cut! – I went here because I read good things about it here on citisearch. It was great, the girl that cut my hair (her name escapes me) was really talented and turned my f-ed up hair into a fashionable easy to do due. $55 so cheap for the city! She was nice and not annoying. Very happy!
Best for Asian hair! – I decided to try this place after reading all of the positive reviews on city search. I LOVE this place! The stylist is very polite, she spends time telling me what she is doing with my hair. She gave my straight hair volume! Definitely know what she is doing. The price is right and it is easy to make an appointment. Highly recommended!
Great Haircut. – The salon was clean. The entire staff was friendly. They gave me a glass of water when I asked for one. Chinami gave me a great haircut. I will definitely return.
Chinami Rocks! – At Hair Kuwayama you always get great work for a great price. My color is fantastic and durable. My hair style looks better then I imagined and grows out gracefully. Chinami is a great stylist with a very likeable personality. She really takes her time with her clients, no rushing you through like livestock! When she's done, I feel like I have been sculpted. Whether conservative or funky or just plain out there, this is the salon for you.
