Although I have tried Haegeles sweets at St Tims functions, today was my first visit to the bakery itself. I have to say, the atmosphere was authentic, the staff was very friendly and efficient. The bakery is very clean and well maintained, and everything is priced just right. Last but not least, the sweets are out of this world, you will not be disappointed. The cream donuts are incredible. Do yourself a favor and stop by this local gem.
Our parents grew up across the street from each other on the 4100 block of Barnett Street. Richard Haegele (2nd generation owner) knew them as Coralie Whitham and Jack (John) Adams. This bakery is part of our family history. Our father served in the U.S. Marine Corps which meant we moved around a lot. But Philly was always part of our travels - and visits to Philly ALWAYS included trips to Haegele's.
