I use the online tax filling services with H&R Block. The past several years I've paid extra for the tax pro review at the end, not fully understanding how much value they were adding, but I did it for peace of mind. If you use a tax pro and an audit finds that an error was made, H&R Block owns the fines and fixes your documents at no cost. Beware! Bait and Switch charges on tax preparation. Last year they charged me $250 for a simple tax prep, and no tax was owed. This year, about the same but I owed $1000 in fed tax. When the **** for the same 45 minute tax prep job was presented, price went up to $700. Same work 3X the price. I was told of this increase and if I owed tax, it was "more". This was switched after I took the bait of $250 dollars. This is white collar FRAUD. Go anywhere else.

Do not use H&R Block IMHO! Tax returns for 2019 were prepared by H&R Block. They input the incorrect SSN and the incorrect input impacted 2019 & 2020 & refunds were delayed for both 2019, 2020 and 2021 until resolved. Yr 2019 was finally received after 18 months. Tax year 2020 is still delayed for almost 15 months. This process has been ongoing for almost 2 1/2 years. Their software caused a problem with the return. It wouldnt let changes occur on our side. We call and set up an appointment, they didn't show up for it. Made another appointment, after being them being late to appointment and being unprepared, she said talk to the developers of their program. During this unescalated call, as we're asking her a question she hangs up and does not call back. We've calmly attempted to get our issue resolved multiple times and have the door shut in our face each time. This company does not care ... read more

I have been using these guys for a few years without an issue. This year I took a picture of my w2 their software uploaded the info and I submitted the return. I noticed after I submitted it that I took a picture of the wrong w2. I went back to fix it but it said I had to wait for it to be accepted. I waited thinking they would catch it and send it back for me to update. They didnt, it was accepted. No Manager callback from ****** ********** Branch Manager or ***************** A tax preparer entered the wrong purchase price of our property and to resolve the issue was cumbersome; there was a delay in filing our tax return as a result of this error.We will be taking our business elsewhere after "10" years due to not receiving any Manager callback or follow-up attempt.

I filed a joint tax return with H&R Block with ****************** through H&R block. My tax return was completed in mid-March. There were no issues with my federal or state return, but the *********** Tax payment ID provided by ******* was not valid when I went to pay online. ******* advised there were two methods to reach her, by sending her a message online or calling the main customer service number. This company is terrible. I have been waiting for my tax refund since Feb 28th, it is now March 24th and I am still calling and still getting the round around.Every time I call I get a different story from whoever is on the line. I am furious that I paid for this service and they keep outright lying. First I would get it on the 21st, never did. Then I would get it on the 24th.Never did. The prices charged by H&R Block were three and a half times the average prices charged by other tax preparers in our area. We chose H&R Block because we had used their online software but had unique questions that we needed assistance with. Upon arrival at the H&R Block office we were told "the two software systems aren't compatible." So, in effect, we paid dearly for data entry of a simple tax return that was already nearly completed.
