I have been charged a late fee of $20.00 for one business day late on my gym membership, which is absurd considering most businesses will waive late fees or give you more than one day to set the account straight. If all businesses charged $20.00 late fees after one day of being late, this economy would self-destruct and bankruptcy would skyrocket. They sent me an email on Sunday notifying me of the insufficient funds and then ran my card AGAIN today, before I even had an opportunity to make other arrangements.

I spoke with an agent several months ago regarding canceling my Charter membership. She advised me at that time I needed to send a cancellation notice by regular mail, certified mail, or I could go in to Charter Fitness. So I mailed a letter by regular mail. They claimed they didn't receive it. I called again and the next agent advised me to do the same thing. I had gym membership with ***** ******* with the billing handled by ABC financial. Was a member for a few years but my work moved and the new location had a gym. I kept my membership with ***** until I finally decided to try to cancel it. Found out the process consisted of getting a cancel form from the gym then calling ABC financial with the cancelation number. I apologize that we were unable to waive the Annual fee due to the cancellation policy.
False claims under their termination cancelation policy for new contracts. States you can cancel within 3 business days of the contract. Sent my certified mailed letter on 8/29 3 buisness days after my agreement which was made on 8/24, which was a Wednesday afternoon. First they told me I had to pay a $59.99 cancellation fee becaus they received on 9/2 after the 3 buisness days. Signed up for ***** ******* at their Brooklyn, NY location last year accepting their 1 year membership. Signing up there was no paperwork involved it was done on an ipad for no indication on what were the terms for CANCELING. Assuming i can just pay the last month and canceling my membership but NO it is not that easy.
