What is the big deal? – Went for a friend's birthday. Girls got in for free and guys had to pay $15. Once we got inside, I wondered why we even waited on line to get in. I could have just as easily been in my parents' basement with some strobe lights and music. The DJ played some old school stuff and we danced, but otherwise the place was lame. If you're going to pay 15 bucks to get in a place and spend 11 bucks on drinks, I would recommend finding a location with a cooler atmosphere or at least a place that doesn't look lik... read more
Not Worth the Effort – Gypsy tea is yet another club in the flatiron district that manages to fall below your expectations. The decor is nice, modern and airy with high, high ceilings. The door is decent, and around midnight to 2am, the place really gets going. Music is decent. Drinks are expensive. Overall, it is a decent night out but somehow it's missing that draw and really not worth the effort.
Awesome Time... – Went with a bunch of my girls who were visiting in town, and overall had an awesome night...the music was great- a good mix of old and new and classic 80's...the decor is HOT....i personally liked the drinks and had no problem at all getting one....granted it might be a lil hard for some to get into, but once ur past that, its a guarenteed good night :)
not the best? – I've been to gypsy tea a few times now... this last time there were 4 of us at the door at about 2:30am, all girls. The bouncer ignored us for a while, then told us to pay $10 cover. At 2:30am?! After some chest showing, and convincing that all we wanted to do was dance.. they let us in... (we were the only ones in line at that point...) Got in, drink was watered down, and the music was not up to par. There were some boys interested in grinding w/ me and my friends, and we stayed maybe 20 min and left. Big le... read more
Couldn't Move – So my first visit to gypsy tea was a relatively good one... We miraculously didn't have to wait on the all too crowded line when we went vip and bought a bottle. However, once one o'clock rolled aorund our table, which was adjacent to the fron entrance, became bombarded with everyone and anyone. The music was awesome, mixes of old school rock with new raggae and hip hop. But unfortunately everywhere you turned there were people and you couldn't move! 20 minute wait for the unisex bathrooms. All in all not a b... read more
One of the hottest spots in NY – This has consistenly been one of my favorite places to party! beautiful people, awesome music, hot layout, and celebs like orlando bloom, mary-kate olsen and pam anderson...to name a few. if you're not planning on reserving a table then yes, it might be a little more difficullt to get in at the door...but that's what "bottle service" is all about. and its no more expensive than any other comparable popular & exclusive spots. any regular "clubber" knows that spending the money is so worth it f... read more
Posh club in the Flatiron District with an emphasis on bottle service. – In Short Bouncers guard the entrance to this two-level club. Hip-hop and rock pump out of the Phazon sound system in the modern-feeling main room, with banquette-like seating and some room to dance. A separate DJ spins house upstairs, where there's more bottle-service seating and a dramatic tiled bar. A fish tank amuses those in the VIP section, who lounge on ornate velvet-covered chairs. The Gypsy cosmo is the house specialty.
Overrated to say the least – They encourage reservaions, but overbook parties. Your party will only get in at a 5 females to 3 men ratio. The bouncer literally pulled me back into the line as my girlfriend and I entered. He told her to enter and when she came back out to try to get me in, she was told to go back in or leave. Meanwhile the bouncers let in a group of five guys who were their buddies. Once inside, the service is horrible. This club is all about flash and lacking in substance. Anyone with dignity or intelligence... read more
