RecommendedWe ate here on our last day in Anchorage before flying home. I wished we would have found Gwennies when we first got there. The food is all about Alaska and they serve big hearty meals at a good price. The staff is nice and the place has alot of history. I suggest going up stairs and looking around at the photos on the walls if you can still move after the big meal!
My experience here was not good. It is hands down the worst restaurant I have been to in Anchorage- I will say while the waitress was nice, she was very forgetful. The coffee was bland and clearly watered down. I ordered fish and chips, which cost almost $30 (pricy for that dish) and the fish was too overcooked and fried into these bland, hard clumps and the fries were also bland. Finally, my silverware was dirty. I will not be eating here again.
I recommend all Alaskans and guests from overseas to come eat here, my very favorite restaurant from any others, very friendly atmosphere, friendly waiters, and the person who finds a table for you, must come�����🕊🍽��
not very happy love this place waiting to be seated and a party of 4 comes in and get seating before us after we waited for 10 min or so how rude is that need to train your people a little better.
I have been going to gwennies for years and this morning we get there party of 3 put on a wait list and that's fine with me the host sat the three party's in front of us and then started seating people that just walked in so we are eating at the village inn instead learn how to do your job please.

$27 for some deep fried halibut (probably imported from Seattle or somewhere else) and fries. I understand that I visited near the end of March when fresh fish isn't as widely available, but at least update your prices. If during summer you still serve the same fish you charged me $27 for, then I wouldn't recommend this place at all. I have paid $8 at Long John Silvers for basically the same meal I got here.
