First time visiting today with my boys and husband great fishing and awesome sights we saw schools of dolphins numerous times, sharks and stingrays my only downfall was the extreme heat with no shade but the beach is right there so we swam to cool off!! Great experience for all of us

This is NOT a tent friendly place! It was awful. We were told we would have a tent site with power and water. We get there only to realize that they've put us in an rv spot with no trees! We honestly tried to make the best of it. We decided to spend the day at the beach. Only to come back and someone had mowed around our site. Blowing grass, dirt, and ants into our tent and blowing over our cabana. I will not be returning to this place. Anyone tent camping should avoid this place. The staff didn't even seem to care when we e... read more

Loved this place. Pull throughs are nicely done, laundry facilities are the best for a state park that I have seen. Pool is resort quality. Nice beach side facilities as well. Great job, Alabama!

We went primative tent camping. From the time we checked in, until the time we left we had all good experiences. The staff was so friendly and great. We requested to move sites the 2nd night and they accomodated with no problem. The pool is beautiful. It is well maintained. I never saw any trash laying around. The community bathrooms are so clean, which is a MAJOR deal for me. They never smelled nasty and were never trashy. I can not wait to go back. It was amazing and so peaceful. The beautiful beach is across the street. I... read more

The road closure is terrible....what a horrible idea...you now must go thru all that traffic for what? Also, the price has increased and we have to pay a resort fee to stay here... if you look around the campground the grass had not been cut in weeks, construction materials blocking sites, and free access to the pier? Really? If I wanted to go to the pier to sight see I would....the 'resort fee' doesn't justify what I'm seeing in the park and surrounding area...We are rethinking our options for camping in the area...

After years of visiting the Gulf state park most years 10 times per year to see the campground road now closed down is depressing. The trip to walmart on a holiday weekend just went from 10 minutes to 40 minutes. It is a shame that I now have to pull my camper all the way to the beach just to enter the park. With all of the million ways the bp money could be used closing down a perfectly good road never would have entered my mind. Having said all of the staff at the campground are amazing and do a very good job and obviously... read more
