George Rivera-Davis, Des Moines native and creator/owner of Grounds for Celebration, has been in the coffee business for more than 15 years. “The first time I drank a good cup of coffee. . .well, my uncle grows coffee in Panama and he had a bumper crop one year. I visited the shop on Sunday morning and was far from impressed. I walked in and stood at the register and was not greeted by the two women working behind the counter until they finished their conversation. The barista took my order and then just said "here you go" and walked away from me. I hadn't paid so I just stood there waiting. The coffee was okay, but the staff has terrible customer service. I would not recommend this shop. Very unfriendly and unprofessional.

Love this place! We always have a bag of whole bean coffee in our freezer and make a fresh pot every morning. Well, the other morning there wasn't any so I strapped our daughter into the car seat and went through the drive through in our PJ's! It took my morning from a 6 to a 10! We love grounds for celebration and we love Beaverdale! ❤️
