With a solid selection of beers and basic menu, Grendel's was made for happy hour: half-price food between Monday to Wednesday 5 to 7:30pm or Thursday to Sunday 9-11:30pm . For a splurge, try their dark ‘n stormy: ginger beer + serious rum. Even better—they have hard cider on tap. The food? Unremarkable, but definitely good enough to return. In nice weather, aim for the patio, but be aware the half-price deal is only available inside.

Great Restaurant in Harvard Square This is a great little restaurant located in Harvard Square. There is a wonderful fireplace and a great atmosphere. The food is the type of food you'd find in a brewery, burgers, steaks, sandwiches, appetizers, etc. A good value too. Lots of cute little shops nearby, it's a great place to go for lunch or dinner after shopping in Harvard Square.
the place you go when you can't decide where to go There's nothing particularly good or bad about Grendel's. It's a Harvard Square standard, and it does, to some degree, rest on its reputation. That said, it's a good spot for a quick bite and a couple of drinks with friends.

Fun Basement Go-To Spot This is my go-to bar if I'm in Harvard Square and want to grab an inexpensive drink and maybe some light food. Situated in the basement of a much fancier restaurant (don't worry you go in through the stairs, not the fancy restaurant), it's surprisingly large. they don't have many tables, so if your group is large it's best to get there early, but the atmosphere is great.
local hangout Nothing that special about Grendel's except that year after year it remains a steady and reliable place to go out in Cambridge. Everyone knows it and you know you will have a great time. Traditional bar food. Good selection of beer. Easy meeting spot.
Good bar food Good place to go to catch a quick bite, and then stay for a few beers. Food is nothing spectacular, but it will fill you up and leave you satisfied- nice beer list. Cheap and quick!
The chicken Caesar wrap is fantastic.
