One of the most uncomfortable and unprofessional medical encounters I’ve ever heard described. Dr. Parranto relied on outdated stereotypes and personal assumptions instead of evidence-based medicine, dismissing autism concerns because the patient “didn’t look autistic” and questioning why a diagnosis would matter at all. Creepy. Made comments about physical appearance that were unwarranted. Uninformed and presumptuous about phenotypical traits and modern diagnostic criteria for neurodivergence. Uninformed about the range of dysautonomia in chronically ill patients. Instead of suggesting helpful resources, chose medical gaslighting and to make patient feel wildly uncomfortable.
