Tired of his 5 a.m. forays, a young farmer decided he had milked his last cow. He conceived the idea to build a roadside sandwich stand. This sandwich stand on Somerset Pike (Route 985) in Jennerstown evolved into the Laurel HIghlands landmark it is today, known as Green Gables Restaurant, a Wine Spectator award winner. The rustic, artistic setting of Green Gables provides tables an expansive view of the stream that feeds Stoughton Lake as well as mountain flora and fauna. I’m in love with place! Highly recommend!!! Had my wedding here and wouldn’t have changed a thing. Everything is perfect. Looked beautiful, the best food ever & help along the way! Please check this place out 10/5 stars!! — with Carol Koza and Steve Allen Meyers.
We had our daughter’s beautiful wedding ceremony and reception here on 9/14, and I can’t say enough wonderful things about the whole experience. The outdoor ceremony setting by the lake was lovely. The proprietor of the venue, Teresa, was a joy to work with, and she made sure that everything ran perfectly. The dinner was amazing and we’re still receiving compliments on everything. We can’t wait to go back to enjoy a nice dinner soon!
WE HAD MY DAUGHTERS WEDDING HERE THIS PAST WEEKEND....THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE WAS FANTASTIC AS WELL AS THE FOOD....I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ALL....:-)
Slow service and food came dribbling out.
Had a horrible meal at this restaurant yesterday. The entire meal was inedible!
Visited for Easter buffet. Highlights were the parsnip soup with crab and sherry and the sliced ham. Other items were cold, which affected our enjoyment of them. Probably a good idea to check the sterno once in a while. I recommend mostly based on the atmosphere. It is a lovely old building with many natural elements. I suspect ordering off the menu is a better, warmer food experience.
I love the decor. The entire place is so unique. Have been going there since late 60’s.
Beautiful had my daughters wedding there everything was awesome from the planning to the last dance and everything in between including the weather !! No rain!! Couldn’t have asked for a better day thanks a million times over❤️❤️
So rustic and beautiful! Delicious food! Romantic wood burning fire place!
