Enjoyed talking with a most excellent guide, Eldon. I couldn't stump him and I asked a zillion questions. The RR operation there are truly epic.
If you like trains, this is a must see!
Our visit to the Golden Spike Tower was great! an unplanned stop on our way eastward home turned into a splendid highlight. The trainyard itself is a massive sight and the information, memorabilia, and gift shop were all entertaining and educational. The staff here were wonderful friendly folks who were eager and prepared for any and all questions. Will definitely have to stop in again if we come through North Platte.
The view is spectacular! Miles of train cars on the move. Great place to visit for any rail fan.
I have been to the tower twice and it is just awesome looking out over the tracks and trains. My father and four of my brothers worked for the railroad.
