Good Vet I've been going there for over 7 years now for my babies (my dogs) and they've always treated them with love and care. They never beat around the bush and they have performed surgeries on two of my babies. There are no complaints from me, the prices are reasonable and I will recommend them to anyone. They are also very sympathetic. They let me know if something is wrong with my babies whenever it's time for their checkup. They know how to do their job.
Disapointed in Dr. Balzer ethics Cheap prices but Dr. Cynthia Balzer is more concerned with making money than saving a life. I live in Lansdowne, I have a vet 3 blocks from me but chose to go to Girard because a friend recommended it to me. I dont have a car, work in center city and Girard is closed on the weekends. Dr. Balzer refused to send/fax a prescription to my next door vet because she wanted me to buy the prescription foods for my cat there with her. Now, I dont know much but I'd say a Vet's priority is to save lives... read more
What a great experience We brought a dog that we were watching to this clinic that had gotten bitten at the dog park. The staff and Doctor were amazing. They were very accommodating and the front desk ran the office with organization and precision. I am very happy with my experience there and will be taking my pets there in the future.
No nonsense facility No problem with vet. She's direct and to the point. It's best to cancel app't 24hrs. in advance (the same as it is with any doctor). I needed an application for cat and they didn't carry it, however, they did fax script to another vet. They are very accommodating. As for the bad reviews posted, those are from unreasonable cliental. Alway take fresh stool sample to vet, if you are unsure of what's wrong w/ pet.
Going Down Hill... I could not recommend this clinic. It is going downhill and quick! I have been taking my pets to Girard Vet for over ten years. As time has gone, there is less care about the animals and every care about money! Inconvenient hours. The vet is pretty good, loves animals but only does the necessary tests for sick pets. The tag-team receptionists are uncaring and disrespectful and seem to enjoy their efforts at being rude to pet owners. Not to mention the new $38.00 cancellation fees. And that's PER PET! Great Vet Dr. Balzer is a great vet and her staff is really friendly and helpful, Took my sick cat there and within the day he was feeling 100% better. Thanks Girard Vet, we'll be coming to you for any future needs.
go to another VET Dr.Balzer is only somewhat o.k at giving shots, not if your pet is sick. Her attitude stinks from time to time. She makes rude comments and unfortunately, she isn't even on top of her game. She and her staff can be rude at times until you let them know that you refuse to tolerate it

Called Crying, Left Smiling I can't say enough about these gals and guys. I called Crying on Wendnesday around noon, and My Cat Lover was in their office being triaged by 2. We thought for sure he was going to have to be put to sleep, as we had been dealing with him having a very agressive cancer in his arm, for about 6 months, and it refused to go away, after removal of the lump (also performed by Girard Veterinary Clinic).
