We had a tenderloin, chili cheese fries, and a cheeseburger coney style. The food was good and we loved the atmosphere. We got to meet the owner, George the chili king himself. Staff were very personable. A good experience.
We split a pork tenderloin sandwich, onion rings and a bowl of chili. Couldn't finish it all. It was GREAT. Waitress and cook were very friendly. We tipped them both. My boyfriend doesn't like pickles so you made our sandwich separately and just laughed.. what a sweetheart she was.
Food was great just like I remembered. It isn't a fancy restaurant, it is an old drive in with a good atmosphere.
A cornerstone of Des Moines' food scene, truly unique in a world of cookie cutter restaurant chains! I've been a customer for 50+ years and still keep coming back.
Amazing service & atmosphere! Homemade onion rings, Tenderloins, chili dog and Strawberry shake! Delicious!! �
Fatman special is a must. Still confused as to why there is an auto salvage in the drive in area though.
