Sadly, there are incompetent practitioners of behavior analysis. ABA, when practiced correctly focuses on teaching behaviors that help clients achieve their goals. When practiced correctly ABA is pragmatic, not dogmatic. It uses positive reinforcement as defined by client choices, not coercion. It promotes client independence and self-management.
Anyone who has been emancipated from Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) and from parents will tell you the same thing. We hate ABA. It is coercive. It is a cult. The program was well designed and delivered at a pace that was accessible for a working adult. The courses were well designed and included many opportunities to practice career relevant skills. I would full heartedly recommend the distance learning program to anyone who is considering beginning the process of becoming a BCaBA or a BCBA!
