Short trip to downtown. This hotel has great amenities. Loved the fitness center and hot tub. Comfortable room and bed. Could use more hooks for towels in the bathroom.
Gateway Hotel is where Iowa State University hosts its official guests. It is one of the more mid to upper scale hotels in Ames. The rooms are generally well decorated, though the hotel and the concrete building is starting to show its age. The rooms are missing modern necessities, such as USB chargers, and the clunky old alarm clock appears as old as I am.
