Yummy Yummy in my Tummy. Every time I go to Groton I always go to Fred Shanty's. The location is great, just like the food. I remember coming here with my dad and all my siblings, and we have always had a great time.
Seasonal Seafood and burgers This is a very small, seasonal seafood and burger joint. I so wish they were open year round. There is no inside seating, only picnic tables over looking the Thames River. Parking is often tight. They are a great place to go on a warm day or evening.
Great casual food Fred's Shanty is a great summertime place to get a hot dog or hamburger and sit outside and enjoy the view.
Nice atmosphere I love the location of this place, right on the water. This is a seasonal place that the locals cannot wait to have open. I have only eaten there once and I loved it. I had the haddock dinner, it was a huge portion.

Good view and decent prices. The food is tasty and the Clam Chowder is freshly made.
The line at Captain Scott's Lobster Dock was too long, so I went to Fred's Shanty. Now I know why the line was so long at Captain Scott's. 😕
