Really fun bar – We were in town for the 2009 Cotton Bowl. A friend recommended Frankies and we went by on Jan 1, the day before the CB. They had alot of flat screen TV, so one could see any of the bowl games. The atmosphere was cool, drinks good and the food was better than most bars. But the thing that puts Frankies over the top is the owner(and his wife) are really involved with the bar. Bill(think that is right) was very friendly and helpful to his customers. Spoke with him briefly, nice guy. I will take my Ole Miss back... read more
Business response:
Hey, NashReb, I HAVE to be involved! If I weren't, I'd "miss" (pun intended) out on the opportunity to meet all the great fans that visit Frankie's from all over the place. Thanks for taking the time to write. Good luck against OSU this year! Should be a great fight! -BK
Very Welcoming Place, Great Service – My friends and I are visiting the Dallas area and decided to watch the Rutgers Pitt game at Frankies. Highlights: 1. Very cute waitresses, very welcoming and always smiled. 2. Cool layout TV's everywhere, indoor outdoor seating and pool table 3. Food is very good and well presented 4. Drink and food prices are very reasonable 5. Bill the owner and his staff really know how to make you feel welcome. Bill is hillarious and introduced us to his staff and to his regulars, really made us want... read more
Business response:
You guys were a lot of fun, too. I remember the three of you sitting against the rail cheering Rutgers on. I also remember recommending the Satan's Piss. If you recall, I made sure you were cabbing it and not driving before I let them serve it to your bud! Hope I get to see y'all on your next trip. Thanks for writing. -Bill
Probably the best sports bar in Dallas – Great place to watch the game, get some good food, or get involved in a game of billiards. There is usually a good crowd of people, and the place feels lively. Good bar and good service.
Business response:
If nothing else, you get the prize for most original reviewer name, TheBoatEngineMakeNoise. I appreciate the feedback and hope you'll continue to make Frankie's a regular stop. Cheers, Bill
Good Bar, OK sports bar – Frankies is a good place to watch a game if it is a big or local game that lots of others will be watching, but is not a great sports bar for say a college football saturday with lots of games all over the country that you might be interested in. I love Frankies for watching big Mavs games but there are better places to go to watch out of region college football and basketball games.
Business response:
Thanks for writing "drewtal". Let me start by saying that we ARE a sports bar IN Dallas, Texas, so if we tend to be "Homers" to a certain extent, I challenge you to find a sports bar anywhere in the country that isn't. That being said, we have 34 HDTV's (including our two 10' projectors) and 20 satellite receivers. We do our best to accomodate ALL loyal fans. We even have the Big Ten package! Yes, the UT game will be on the main TV with the sound, but other broadcast games from the Big 12, SEC, PAC 10, ACC, etc., are allotte... read more
Love love love Frankies – I have been coming to this place for years. Not only are they great for sports, but the food isn't bad either! Actually the food is GREAT. I went in the first time and had nachos. Talk about 'scary' nachos! I found out that 'scary' is a good thing to the younger generation when it comes to food :) . I recently went back and they were trying out a salad bar. I would eat here every day if I could. They have great pizza, burgers and a great salad bar too now! How could you go wrong? Really, there is so... read more
Business response:
Thanks for taking the time to write in. We try to be a cut above when it comes to our cuisine. I don't want people to say, "The food is great...for a sports bar." I want them to say, "Their food is GREAT!" PERIOD. Just like you did. We've been listening to what people want; what they do and don't like. For those who wanted a quick, nutrious, healthy, yummy lunch, we added our M-F, 11a-3p Lunch Bar. It has all you can eat salad and Carolyn's Home-Made soup. You can also add a baked potato if you're not on Atkin's or South Bea... read more
The Owner Gave Up His Chair For Me – Being from out of town, I asked around for the best place to watch the Lakers Celtics game 3. Frankies was the unanimous recommendation. When I get there at game time every seat, inside and outside, is full. So, I ask the friendly guy sitting in the center of the bar wearing a Frankies shirt if he knew how an out-of-towner could get a seat, have a few beers, and watch the game. Bill Katz promply offered the two seats that he and his female companion were using for my buddy and I to watch ... read more
Business response:
Happy to be of service. Glad y'all had a good time. Looking forward to seeing you next time business or pleasure brings you to Big D. That lovely female companion was Johnnie, my wife of 26 years. (If anyone from the TABC is reading this, we pour 1.5 oz shots...just like we're supposed to...as far as you know...)
Most for your Buck – #1 Sports bar in the US...During the summer sitting on the patio for Sunday Funday is the way to go. They show all the UFC fights so get there early ( 2 hours in advance) otherwise you will be standing with your beer bucket in hand. Every food item is HUGE...so always share. Every Cowboys, Mavericks, Stars game the owner ( big bald guy with flag) gets the crowd pumped up for each game and it feels like your at the stadium or arena. The wait-staff is friendly and will accomodate, like getting extra chairs... read more
Business response:
I'm very happy that you and your girlfriends like Frankie's. Sorry you don't like the cigars, but we do have state of the art electrostatic air filters and the smoke doesn't linger for long (besides, the Dallas city council will ban smoking in all establishments before long--so smoke 'em while you can, boys). We appreciate the kudos and look forward to having you back soon.
You can get it done at Frankies. Friendly excellent service, good food & beer, fast free wireless, sports, babes and parking, coming from a traveling man, couldn't ask for more! – Nice neighboorhood, real people, a unique menu which kept me having fun while working. I would suggest the "Jimmy the Greek Salad, and a tailor made pizza.
Business response:
Glad we could accomodate all your needs. Hope to see you next time you're in town. For future reference: just ask your server or bartender to turn down the stereo. We're here for you.
Service with an attitude – Great place for about everything. Beward of the nachos seriously scary. When the girl says a full order feeds 5 shes not lying. Great place to go even when theres not a game. Service is horrible, like most bars in the area. Not enough wait staff and the ones they have act like they are above serving. Bar tenders are cool, sit at the bar to avoid the disgruntal waitresses..
Business response:
We try and we try to make your Sports Bar experience the best we can. As far disgruntled staff, give us another try. I think you'll find they're quite gruntled. We try to keep the fights on TV (we DO show all the UFC pay-per-views). Other than that, it's probably just me (Bill, the big, bald, owner) running my mouth. I have a tendency to be loud and boisterous (it's part of my charm) and it may sound like I'm yelling at someone. Trust me, it's just my way of saying, "Look at me!" Come on back and I'll make sure you get the s... read more
