A former US Navy debarkation point built in 1942, Fleet Landing lay vacant after World War II. Located on the eastern waterfront side of the Historic District, the 6000 square-foot (557 square-meter) concrete building was purchased by Tradd Newton in 2004. My husband and I were in town for a travel agent training and opted for dinner at Fleet Landing. We didn't have a reservation which is recommended, but the wait was only about 15 minutes. We chose to eat outside on the heated patio overlooking the water. The food was delicious! We started with the appetizers: fried green tomatoes topped with crab salad and steak calamari.
