I found a male mink by the side of the road that had been hit by a car. He was alive but woozy and bleeding from nose. I boxed him up (with the help of a kind passerby) and a friend recommended I call fellow mortals. They called me back in just a few minutes and I brought the little guy to them. They were very kind and really seem to have a passion for helping animals. Thank goodness there are fabulous places like this!
So came home & found a squirrel laying by the fence looking like something attacked the back end. Got him into a box, warmed him up by placing a blanket on top of him, & let him warm up in the basement. BIG SHOUT OUT TO FELLOW MORTALS WILDLIFE ANIMAL HOSPITAL IN LAKE GENEVA! We rescued a baby kestrel, after several failed attempts to make contact with agencies that could take in this baby (after hours), we called the Racine County Sheriff. I left a message at Fellow Mortals, and received a call back a few minutes later. We drove an hour to get there, but we knew it was important to get the fledgling the proper care it needed. I just dropped off a Great Horned owl that became seriously entangled in the netting over my rabbitry. Thanks for taking her in and making sure she's ok. You can see the video of me untangling her by going to Youtube and searching for 'Owl Extraction' - my subscriber name is LASGSD1.
Brought it a tiny newborn squirrel that needed help and Fellow Mortals was the only place who got back to me. Another rescue just gave me Fellow Mortals number. It was quite the drive there but it was worth it knowing that our baby squirrel would be well taken care of. I received a paper with the picture of my squirrel and other info about animals.
