Owned and managed by the Jefferson County Truck Growers Association, BFM is both a wholesale and a farmers market. The Market houses more than 500 farmers and vendors on its 49 acres of land, 33 of which consist of only produce, making it the largest market in the State. Besides an array of fresh seasonal vegetable and fruit available on daily bases, the Market also features Alabama pecans, candies, and specialty items from the Heart of Dixie. The market is open daily, year-round.

The Farmer’s market in Birmingham, Alabama is okay but not the first vendor in front, Farmhouse Produce. The very unpleasant foreign woman who works there stopped me from buying a box of tomatoes because I wanted to swap one red tomato for one green tomato. The red and green tomatoes are the same price! She was totally unreasonable and obviously does not care at all about pleasing the customer! I left but she didn’t care! It's a great place to support people in Alabama, it has a family atmosphere, and my son works there.
