Back in the 90’s this place was good. About 2001 we stopped going cuz the food was not as good. We went the other day and it was not good. It wasn’t even busy around noon so that will show me that it’s not getting good business.
Ernesto's has the best fish tacos in town. That said, the past three times I've ordered them they've gotten my order wrong. I order no pico, extra limes. Today there were tomatoes (I thought pico was put on, so I ordered no pico) and zero limes. I took the blame since I didn't order "no tomatoes", but c'mon. If someone orders no pico, and you know they don't come with pico anyway, can't you clarify and ask "Do you mean no tomatoes?" Luckily I'm not allergic. I hadn’t been here in 10 years and the place has slipped a bit since. The food was adequate, but the service was pretty impersonal. We barely saw our server after our food was delivered. Our drinks were only refilled once and we sat with empty glasses for quite a while. The chile rellenos were pretty good though
Great food, awesome Carnita’s! We tried the carnitas plate which was very good. Crisp, tender and good flavor. Also we tried the Carne Tampiqueño, which was an excellent piece of carne Asada. Lots of flavor. The refried beans is one of the best I’ve tasted. Could use a little salt in the salsa and they’re service could use I bit more attention to the customer.
