Likes to claim to do a physical exam but never gets within 3 feet of you OR EVEN ASKS YOU TO SHOW HIM THE AREA AFFECTED. If you don't know a drug name you took he will call you a liar for saying you took it. He will refuse to consider that you took a stronger version of what he says to take with no improvement and if your insurance won't cover the treatment he doesn't care at all let alone offer alternatives. I can't believe he even has patients with the way he treats people.

I Like Dr . Herfter a lot. I found him friendly, & informative. He listened & addressed my concerns. Did not feel rushed or dismissed. Came out feeling better then when I went in. Feel like I have a plan of action to improve my health.
He listens. He never rushes his exam nor do I feel rushed. He is a terrific doctor! I have been a patient of his for over five years!
dr herfter was my doctor in new mexico for many years. he has always been a great doctor to me, not gonna get into details but he saved my life. and you can be so lucky to have him for your primary. i havent found a good doctor since he moved from nm. thanks for all youve done for me doc.
I primarily needed to find a doctor for general preventative care and medicine refills. Dr. Herfter was rude, dismissive, distracted, and told me I didn't need meds because I was wrong about my diagnosis (depression and anxiety). (Uhm, several psychiatrists beg to differ with you!!) He said I needed to lose weight and I would feel better. This guy is dangerous.
My visit with Dr. Herfter was the worst experience with a medical professional I have ever had. He came into the room 40 minutes late, then left to take a personal call just as he was entering the room. As bad as this is, I could be okay with it if the visit had gone well, but it didn't. Ernesto barely spent two minutes with me, asked me zero questions, shined a light in my eyes, pushed on my stomach, and left. He was incredibly dismissive. I would never recommend that someone visit him. He spent two minutes with me, did not look at my medical history and dismissed my heath concern. To make matters worse, when I saw a different doctor because the issue continued, they discovered that Dr. Herfter was incorrect in his diagnosis.
Probably one of the worst experiences I have had. He was inattentive, felt more concerned about moving on to the next. Was not interested in really any guidance related to ways to improve health or otherwise and wasn't even prepared about my history. I will be looking elsewhere.
