El Rancho was built in 1948 by the Jahnke family as a trading post. They sold the building in November 1953 to Mildred and Ray Zipprich, Milwaukee Wisconsin pie distributors. Their daughter Donna and son-in-law Paul McEncroe joined them in February 1958 and operated it, with their children, until 1988. After the McEncroes sold El Rancho in 1988 it was owned and operated by various families. In May 2015 the Vincent families renovated the historic restaurant as a brew pub, opening in November 2015. Honestly, after reading the reviews I was a little skeptical about trying El Rancho out. We are getting married this year and will be staying at the hotel next door so have been thinking about having our rehearsal dinner here. The food was amazing as well as the beer! Service was spot on as well. I'm so thankful I gave it a chance. We will definitely be back!
We were there last night around 5. 3/4/16. Place was busy. Service good. Beer good and cold. Food good. Will go back.
We've been back a few times since opening. We like it. "Teething" on the food menu like the other guy said, and it keeps getting better! New menu items each time. Can't wait to try the pan fried trout next time! Good job Tom
Disorganized staff, slow service on Valentines Day. Food was not cooked as ordered. I'm seeing on FB this evening that the launch of the breakfast menu also went very poorly with many complaints. The reincarnation of the historic El Rancho is being bungled. After three months the owners still can't get it right?! A big disappointment so far.
Ambiance was pleasant and homey, kind of like a mountain diner. Not much of a crowd in the dining room, and service was adequate, though not remarkable. We came in primarily for the food, though I had a Bergen Blonde beer, which was good. The food, however, was mediocre though priced reasonably. The chicken was overcooked, the chili was cold and the barbecue was disappointing with a sauce and baked beans reminiscent of some of the higher quality super market bottled and canned varieties. If I was going in for a brew, I would... read more
What a great place with great potential but they need a good manager! The wait staff seams to know it too. The beer is great and the food is ok. I hope they make it better soon. The word is out that it is just ok and ok does not survive very long in the restaurant business.
Went tonight for the first time with the family. Excellent food, beer, service, atmosphere -we will surely be back. Hope you guys do well!
The beers at El Rancho are ever expanding and tasty. The I-70PA and the Coffee Stout are remarkable. The one time that I've eaten the menu was limited but it was yummy and the service was personable. I really appreciate their maintaining the historical integrity of the place. They've got a few kinks to work out, but I gave total faith in El Ranchoc Brewing in the long run.
