El Rancho was built in 1948 by the Jahnke family as a trading post. They sold the building in November 1953 to Mildred and Ray Zipprich, Milwaukee Wisconsin pie distributors. Their daughter Donna and son-in-law Paul McEncroe joined them in February 1958 and operated it, with their children, until 1988. Service was great, wait for table, less than 10 minutes! Print your own name and party size, great idea. The place looks great, glad they didn't change it too much! Not too noisy, but not quiet. Meal was good, a little greasy, but fresh! A LOT of garlic in the chunky mashed potatoes, too much in our opinion. Biscuits are wonderful! Coffee was very good, as well. We have have been wanting to to this place for so long but the reviews have been keeping us away. So happy we came in today and gave them a try. Mary was running the downstairs bar and she was great. Gave us samples of any beer we wanted to try and was just friendly and a positive energy. We met Bob one of the owners and he was amazing, we changed our order from chips and salsa to nachos and he went straight to the kitchen to change this out for us. Nachos are awesome. Yesterday we had a big graduation party at El Rancho. It was epic! Kiria, Laurie, Bob and Corey were so helpful! They took care of all the details and made us feel at home. They were attentive and thoughtful, anticipating every need. Food was excellent! We had the tri-tip, chicken, ham and turkey at our buffet. Guests loved all of it! And the beer was fresh and perfect. We had a large group of people;they sat us on the banquet room, it was a wonderful room!! However the server must not have a lot of experience with large groups; and the burgers were not what we expected. I may go back again, but mist people in the group said they wouldn't.
I had a wonderful time at the bar on Mother's Day! Mary, the bartender was awesome & so nice. The Asst Brew Maker was very nice & knowledgeable. And of course Bard's beer was awesome! I bussed here as teen & really like the decor they kept and the updates they made. I'll definitely be back time & time again!
Awesome place, great staff, excellent food, and the beer is absolutely great.
Had some great beer (Lookout Mtn IPA) at your restaurant a few weeks back. Was told by the server there would be more veggie options soon. Has that happened yet? I really want your restaurant to succeed, you have such a great location and ambience! But the menu's a little too meat-heavy IMO. This vegetarian will be back when you've enlarged your menu.
My wife and I stopped by for easter dinner and we really had a great time. The beer was great, the food was good and do the service was friendly and attentive. We're looking forward to going back.
I didn't see a suggestion card, but have a few comments to make. We really want to see you succeed . A few things from our experience with a family of eight. One received a dirty plate, one a dirty glass. Order rice as a side, received mashed potatoes that all agreed were dry. 4 orders of chicken fried chicken, 2 bottoms burned. Banana cream pie without bananas, 2 orders A few kinks to be worked out if you want return customers. We will try you again to see how things go. Good luck
