Decent gym but strange owner... – I signed up at eco fitness but regret doing so because the owner (dave) offendes female members with his unwarranted advances... Please consider this before joining...

Thank You – I am NOT a gym person and was very intimidated to enter this huge place of unknowns... I was greeted with a smile and quickly transferred to a manager who I can not thank enough for her help. She not only toured me so that I was comfortable and able to pretend to know where I was going but she actually put me on some of the equipment and showed me how to get started. She was very knowledgeable and helped me feel totally at ease, she has been between downtown and Mt Pleasant locations since the business opened and... read more

Just another hangout – What a joke for a gym! I have been a member for two years and have disliked every moment. This gym is more of a soccer mom hangout, moms with kids in thier huge SUV come to do YOGA with the other unemployeed stay at home moms. The towels have been an ongoing issue with staff because they are being stolen! So the solution is to have members bring thier own towels, my solution is to sweat on the equipment and let the gym clean the machines. If you want a place to see all the cool guys and girls of Mt. Pl... read more

Spend your money somewhere else... – These "4-star" reviews MUST written by employees or friends of employees of ECO - I've been a member at a number of gyms in a number of cities, and these folks are seriously the least helpful and least friendly. The equipment is fine, the classes are fine - but part of that monthly payment (and ECO is one of the most expensive around) is for customer service. I'm not a high maintenance customer, but on occasion when I do have a question, I don't expect employees to act bothered when I ask... read more

Just Work Out!! – You can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of them. There is no better place to work out in Charleston. True, the downtown location has limited space. True, the customer service has been inconsistent. What are we looking for here people? I thought that the purpose of a gym was to work out, and not to socialize, or feel all warm and fuzzy because some part-time college student remembered your name. If anything, I've seen rude behavior on the part of some of the customers who think that e... read more

Not Worth It – I live in Mt. Pleasant and got a pass in mail that said I didn't have to pay until 08! So, I was so excited when I went in b/c it's the holidays so I need to save money, but I want to stay in shape now it's getting cold. The new facility was cool, but when I went to use my pass I found out you have to pay the first AND last month upfront with a start-up fee, which is way more than any other gym in Mt. P. Then, come to find out you have to pay extra to take classes...ALL CLASSES!!! After trying it out for a few... read more

Finally a great place in Mount Plesasant to workout! – I went in with a trial pass that I received in the maiI. I was greeted by a very friendly staff and was given a tour to introduce me to the gym before working out. It seems to be perfect fitness center for those who are interested in toning their bodies or just trying to fit a little bit of exercise into a busy schedule. It caters to all age groups.

Not all it's cracked up to be – I recently visited ECO on a trial pass, and I was very disappointed by my overall experience. I was excited to try a spinning class so I called ahead to reserve a bike. When I arrived for class, all bikes were taken and I was not allowed to participate. The new gym in Mt. Pleasant feels like a big warehouse - not a gym. There were kids everywhere with minimal staff to handle them all. The front desk staff barely acknowledged my presence. When I inquired about a membership, I was told that a ma... read more

Friendly staff – I joined Eco Fitness at Mount Pleasant recently. They have very smiling and friendly staff (Lisa, Michelle). Their yoga, spinning, salsa classes are awesome with great teachers who are very welcoming.
