Best Sushi on the Westside or Anywhere – I live just around the corner from Echigo and didn't discover this little piece of heaven until recently. I've been going multiple times a week when possible. The lunch special is the greatest deal. The quality is unbelievable, the service is fantastic. Also, because this is a diamond in the rough, you never have to wait. Try the Bonito and the Albacore Sashimi, they're absolutely to die for. See you soon Toshi-San.

Best Sushi (and Lunch Special) in LA – Yellowtail and tuna that melts in your mouth. Serious quality upgrades on usual favorites...salmon with sweet sake kelp and a crab roll with REAL blue crab. Outstanding value, features a $10 lunch special that has no equal. New wait staff is courteous and cheerful, a refreshing change from the attitude I've come to expect from their "Trust Me" competition. Takes #1 away from Sasabune amongst Westside establishments, and has my vote for Best in LA.

Amazing Warm Sushi – Echigo has some of the best sushi I've had in L.A. or NYC. The people who are complaining about the rice falling apart don't understand that this is a different style of sushi. The rice is some of the most tasty I've ever had - I don't care if it's a little harder to eat!!! It is hard for me and my fiance to eat normal cold sushi now after being spoiled at echigo.

HIGHEST QUALITY FISH ANYWHERE, AND SUSHI IS ALL ABOUT THE FISH! – Anyone who has written a negative review about ECHIGO is just plain ignorant. Maybe they were mad because they couldn't order teriyaki Chicken! THe only other place in LA that has fish this excellent is Urusawa and you better be prepared to pay $300 per person. Toshi, the chef, get's up at 4amEVERYDAY and heads to the various fish markets TO PERSONALLY search for the best fish available! A master like him DOES NOT COMPROMISE on QUALITY. I have seen him taste i... read more

Amazing Sushi – The quality of the sushi here is one of the best I have eaten - in LA, SF and NYC. The rice is warm and the wasabi is right off of the root. The sushi is very similar to that of Sasabune...the head chef used to work there. The blue crab roll is something unique here and very good. The ambience is nothing special but you come here for the food.

My favorite sushi place – the fish is fresh, the rice is warm, the ginger clear, and the price is right.

Excellent sushi located in westside mini-mall - comparable to Sushi Sasabune but not crowded - get the chef's special.

Stellar sushi served at reasonable prices with no frills or fuss. – The Scene Located on the second floor of a shabby Westside mini-mall, Echigo's solicitous servers smile but barely speak to the intrepid few who have found this latest star on the sushi horizon. As the simplicity of white walls, black tables and one artful fish painting make clear, the focus is on sushi not ambience. The Food Chef Toshi apprenticed with Sushi Sasabune's Chef Nobi, and the student may have bested his master. Sit at the counter for chef's choi... read more

yummy! – Echigo is on the "pricey" side, but it is WELL worth it. The fish is GREAT, the rice is warm (which is different, but DELICIOUS), and the service is great as well. For those not looking to spend a lot of money, go to Echigo between the hours of 12p-2p M-F for their $10 lunch special. You get Yellowtail, Tuna, Salmon, White Fish, Albacore and a blue crab roll. It will definitely fill you up...and if it doesn't, get 2 lunch specials! Their blue crab roll is DELICIOUS as well...MUST TRY!!!!!!! i'm craving some right no... read more
