Better tighten up. I've been a fan of Earthfare in Athens since it opened, however I've now seen the light: Earthfare costs the same as Whole foods (also known as Whole Paycheck), except Earthfare has about 50 percent of the selection. Trader Joes offers better service, better prices, and a fun selection. Earthfare needs to tighten up and realize that it has competition and offer better prices and staff that have some customer service skills.

Incredible market for DIY foodies – Given that it is just steps from foodie palace 5&10 and just minutes from all the gastronome Normal-towners, EarthFare is a no-brainer for those needing in-season produce, organic vegetables, and cruelty-free meat. For those familiar with Whole Foods – it’s basically the juggernaut’s baby brother with an extra stress on local product. Bread comes from Athens’ own Luna Bakery, vegetables come from local farms, and foodie-centric items such as canning supplies and fresh potted herbs are for ... read more

Charges for Their Plastic Grocery Bags I usually buy most of my supplements online since it is much cheaper than shopping at Earth Fare. For some reason I decided to go there yesterday (January 13 2010) and, as to be expected, things were pricey. But that is not all. As I was checking out, the girl on the check out counter asked me if it was okay for her to add a 5 cent donation to my bill to go for the plastic Earth Fare shopping bag, then she gave me a spill about recycling, etc. I was so surprised - I was speechless. It w... read more

Mini Whole Foods in Athens It's like a WF without the big-box-store aspect. Prices are a little high, but you go here for quality foods and eco-friendly skincare and cleaning products. Wonderful.

Great! Earth Fare has a great selection of foods made for those who want to eat healthy. Why shop at Kroger or Publix when you can go here?

Alternative to overwhelming, all-in-one stores I enjoy coming to EarthFare in Five Points, Athens, because it is one of the few organic stores found in this part of Northeast Georgia. This store carries organic foods, bulk foods with pasta, flour, trail mixes, fruits and crackers. There is a great meat section with fresh cuts, a bakery with good desserts, a deli, and my favorite, a hot bar with salads and hot meals made with organic foods. It's just nice to come to a small grocery store, in the area of Five Points with other... read more

Great place for wholesome food This is a great little supermarket to find tons of organic products, specialty items and bulk grains. I was able to buy cat food that no one else in Athens carried, baby food that was organic and healthier for my little one, and several other earth friendly cleaning products. I did not do my regular shopping there simply because I could not afford to (organic is expensive!) but it was great for those hard to find items. They are clean, well laid out, and have a wonderful eat in area for the qui... read more
