Better tighten up. I've been a fan of Earthfare in Athens since it opened, however I've now seen the light: Earthfare costs the same as Whole foods (also known as Whole Paycheck), except Earthfare has about 50 percent of the selection. Trader Joes offers better service, better prices, and a fun selection. Earthfare needs to tighten up and realize that it has competition and offer better prices and staff that have some customer service skills.
Charges for Their Plastic Grocery Bags I usually buy most of my supplements online since it is much cheaper than shopping at Earth Fare. For some reason I decided to go there yesterday (January 13 2010) and, as to be expected, things were pricey. But that is not all. As I was checking out, the girl on the check out counter asked me if it was okay for her to add a 5 cent donation to my bill to go for the plastic Earth Fare shopping bag, then she gave me a spill about recycling, etc. I was so surprised - I was speechless. best Best place in town if you're interested in organice and natural foods. I find the prices superb and highly recommended by many my doctor and friends of mine for years!
Mini Whole Foods in Athens It's like a WF without the big-box-store aspect. Prices are a little high, but you go here for quality foods and eco-friendly skincare and cleaning products. Wonderful.
Natural Foods Grocery Store Earth Fare is your typical Natural Foods grocery store - organic fruits and vegetables, specialty grocery products, good quality organic meats and cheeses, specialty bakery items and more. They have a great bulk selection with everything from rapsberry granola to mixed nuts to trail mix. They also carry various kinds of nut butters - like almond butter. Additionally, herbs and seasonings can be bought in bulk - so you can get just a teaspoonful to an entire pound. Natural and organic toiletries ar... read more
Great for vegetarians, hippies and everybody else! I am not vegetarian, vegan or super organic concerned. BUt I do like high quality! Earth fare has great organic products, beautiful veggies and fruits and lots of flours, beans, seeds, etc in bulk. They have a large selection of wines, cheeses, and pantry products but the most notable quality of the store is the ready to eat section! The ready to eat section offers take out salads, sandwiches, sushi, and make your own salads, and also offers a deli case of dinner entrees, pi... read more
SHUTING DOWN 2011/4 NO ONE IS SAFE HERE My family could no longer bring ourselves to shop at this DISGUSTING EXCUSE FOR A FAMILY ORIENTED STORE. THE PLACE WREAKS OF MAGGOTS. I was propositioned by patrons on the grounds of the store. The MARSHALLS better stay within close proximity. NEVER BRING an older person here that can not look out for oneself. I would NEVER BRING ANY HUMAN BEING I RESPECTED TO A FILTHY STORE AS THIS. THE CHECKOUT PEOPLE, ANS CLIST HAGS ALONE ARE ENOUGH TO MAKE THE BEST OF US THROW OUR GUTS UP. LETS HOP... read more
Earth Fare in Athen's Five Points area is the city's version of a mini Whole Foods. It's much smaller than a typical WF but offers similar variety of organic and natural meats, dairy, breads, supplements, personal care items, and more. There's even a dine in area to eat selections from the deli and hot food area. It's also one if the only places in Athens to have quality fresh seafood. That being said, Earth Fare is "whole paycheck" expensive. With Publix, Krogers, and Trader Joe's offering up organics and healthy food brand... read more
