Food was very good. My wife had the chicken and waffle with a side of creamy grits w/cheddar. She's picky about her grits and said they were very good. Not soupy and not sludge, just right. Chicken breasts(2) were fried and moist. I had the southern scramble with a side of ham. Cooked perfectly, not dry and delicious. Service was very good as they were crowded but no long wait. Parking......not so good.
This place serves up a goooood breakfast. The parking lot is small, so there is most times a short line. Customer service is great!!

When we visited Charleston a few years ago we ate here several times. I have to be honest, their grits are the best I have ever had. We have had the chicken and waffles, the shrimp and grits(multiple times) , the cutlet and shrimp over grits, meatloaf sandwich. We have been planning to come in to see our son in Savannah(from Texas) and decided to fly into Charleston just to eat here! Parking is tight, servers are friendly, coffee is strong, food is phenomenal. A must eat for sure.
Love this place, omelets with fresh veges like broccoli, Brussel sprouts, plus the usual. Awesome fried chicken. Always feel welcome and appreciated.

This is the second time we visited the Early Bird Diner on our trips to Charleston. Wonderful food! Wonderful service! Absolutely a place you must visit!
We heard great things about this place, so we decided to try it for a late dinner one evening after 9:00, but even though the website and google said they were open until 10:30, they were closed. But we decided to try again, and I'm glad we did. They didn't open until 10 am today, and we got there a little early but a line was already forming. The food did not disappoint. Chicken and waffles was excellent. The breakfast scramble was amazing. They also make a house ground sausage there, and it was excellent as well!
Oh my!! Our first time eating there, a family of 7 and we all got a different kind of food. All was wonderful and delicious. We are from eastern Tennessee and will make it our go to restaurant on our trips to Charleston.
