Editorial fromDragonfish sits across the street from the Fox Theatre, Portland's indie flick haven, and around the corner from major performing arts facilities, making it a good spot for a pre-film or pre-theater meal. The sushi bar and giant aquarium…

Sunday Lunch: Good food, good atmosphere, poor service Family treated me to lunch for my Bday here. Everything started out well, but after ordering, it was a mess. Our food arrived piece meal, some of us had all three of our dishes before us, while others waited another 10 minutes .... and being polite, those that were served first waited to eat, thereby having cold food when everyone was finally served. The edamame did not arrive at all and we had to ask for it, as well as the rice that the menu indicated came with ALL lunc... read more
Great lunch value – We were visiting Portland last weekend and had lunch at the Dragonfish. We found the food very fresh, the value for lunch very good, and the service responsive. We ordered the salmon dishes and were not disappointed. A side comment. When posting reviews, if one believes there are better restaurants of the same cuisine, they should note it in their reviews. It would give the reader other options and and opportunity to compare.
Consistent – I've been to Dragonfish numerous times, both in Portland and Seattle, and I've found their food and service to be consistently pleasant. Slightly overpriced -- but that's expected considering their location. I recommend the honey walnut shrimp and green curry chicken.
Overrated – It took us a while to finally make the time to check out this restaurant that was in all the dining articles. We were extremely looking forward to it, only to be met with bland food and bad service. There are tons of great asian food places just in and around downtown Portland where you can get decent prices with outstanding food quality. Dragonfish is certainly not one of them. As for service, we were herded in and then pretty much ignored for much of the time we were there. The waitress was flat-out rude and we... read more
Good Service & Good Food – My husband and I have chosen The DragonFish Cafe' as one of our favorites. We have always had excellent, friendly, and quick service. One reason we've liked this restraunt is that the food is made with fresh ingredients, Its brought out when its ready, encouraging you to share your warm meals.
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR – Well, I have read the other reviews and it seems like people think they paid too much for the quality of food and service. In my opinion, having eaten at numerous sushi restaurants in dozens of cities, you get exactly what you pay for here. The sushi was good, but not great. It was fresh, and the ahi was exceptional. You can watch them prepare your food if you sit at the bar (which we did), and the sushi chef was fastidious in washing his hands, as well as in keeping the prep area clean. We ordered... read more
Excellent Asian lunch spot! I've only eaten here for lunch, so I can't comment on dinner, but this a great buy for lunch. Prices are reasonable, very pleasant atmosphere, and food is very tasty. I highly recommend the sweet and sour chicken.
Total Waste – This place is the most overrated sushi restaraunt in the world. If you really do enjoy good sushi, this is not the place for you. All sushi tastes the same here. Very bland. Even the wasabi sucks (not hot at all). The service was scant at best. Never going here again.
