Really bad sushi – The sushi is incredibly bad. The drinks were imaginative, I'll give them that, but the food is horrible. I rice was dry and the fish bland. Cheap does not mean good value. If you want cheap, try Saburo's for value and quality. I won't waste my money here again.
Good Lunch Specials – This place is good for the lunch bento boxes. They are a pretty good deal and you get to sample a few things, but that's all I have ever come here to get.
ATTITUDE AND INATTENTIVE SERVICE/MEDIOCRE SUSHI – My family and I have been coming to Portland regularly for the last 5 years. Fresh sushi, fair price – Some reviewers here wrote that Dragonfish's sushi isn't great. How untrue. Even after reading of a few bad experiences on Citysearch, I dared to take two out-of-town friends here on a Sunday night. Not at all disappointing - the fish, roe, shrimp, ginger &c was all fresh and good. My party was seated right away, we had a polite and fast-moving waitress and ended up paying just $20 each (before tip) for all the sushi we could stomach and a Tsingtao each. Worst Service, Overpriced, Mediocre Sushi, Great Ambiance – We went to the Dragonfish Cafe looking for an upscale sushi experience downtown for a friends 22 birthday and had the worst time. We started out in the main restaurant with a reservation for 12 but upon realization that happy hour was only in the lounge across the lobby we moved over there hearing about how fantastic it was. Sushi in bar not very good – I have gone to Dragonfish a few times and always leave disappointed with the sushi. I have sat in the bar everytime and while I've had good service, the sushi isn't that great. The happy hour prices are great, but you defiantly get what you pay for.
Great for a special occasion – I go here for the appettizers, entrees, and the mixed drinks. Try the chicken lettuce cup and the curry chicken. I haven't had anything here that I didn't like, although I swear the Dragonfire Chicken was hotter the first time I had it (a couple years ago). Their desserts are normally excellent. Great for non-sushi lovers too – A group of us went out for sushi and one guy didn't care for sushi but was impressed with their other menu items (a bit overprice I thought). The sushi was good and the atmosphere is great.
YUmmy – Food was awesome, but somewhat overpriced. As for sushi, selection was limited, not a place to try sushi at its best. Waitstaff was great, very helpful with explanation of menu items.
