On the day after Christmas, 1994 I was in a bad 4 wheel ATV accident in Spencer, MA. I was air lifted to UMASS hospital in Worcester, MA. DR. Laclair was my orthopedic surgeon. I was in surgery for 7 hours. I had a burst fracture of my first lumbar vertebrae. As a Marine Corps Vietnam veteran I wanted to know my prognosis before my loved ones were notified. Broke both bones in left leg playing hockeyMilford hospital is going to have to amputate they told me Worst case so they rushed me to UMass in Worcester where I met dr. Walter leclair who I was told by the nurses was the Yoda of orthopedics for kids my age I was 14 and I played a lot of sports and Doctor LeClaire did I a closed reduction and did not even have to open my leg and set the bones he is unbelievable literally my savior the reason I got to play hockey again and soeven WALK... glad I found this thank you dr. Leclair
