Upon entering the waiting room of Blue Mountain Psychiatry there is a calmness and uncluttered environment. The Receptionist is friendly and helpful about asking any questions about my insurance coverage and or payments. Dr. Rafai greets you with a genuine 'Hello, how are you' and makes you feel comfortable from the start of the session. He gets right to the subject as to why I am here today. Doc literally dozed off while my husband was speaking. My jaw hit the ground. He would blink and his eyes wouldn't open and then his head would nod. Sleep apnea, medicine or blood sugar, I do not know, but I wouldn't like this doctor making me a sandwich let alone prescribe medicine.
My first appt was with Dr Rifai. He seemed to not care about what I was saying and barely looked at me. He suggested TMS for my depression. I told him I'd discuss it with my other drs. I was concerned about other medical conditions I have. They advised against the procedure. I informed Dr Rifai at my next visit and I left his office feeling very discouraged after he said to schedule a follow up appt if I change my mind. He had an emergency before my next appt. This man is very judgemental and makes you feel like a piece of worthless scum. He makes you feel embarrassed and like a complete loser. I went for help and was made to feel that nothing will change for me so get used to being a loser. It took me months to get the courage to even see him and walked out feeling like the biggest loser and scum on the earth. Appt. time was 1:00 PM walk into his office 1:55PM almost 1 hour after appt. time! No apology. I am sister of pateint, when pateint was talking doctor was looking at his computer. Very disrespectful, looking at pateint when they are speaking shows that they are being heard. I would like to get a different doctor but psychiatrist in our or surrounding area are far and in between. So there we are, STUCK
