When Dr Brooks came to UCLA, she hired a technician for her lab. Instead of working, he was day trading and lost money when the dot com bubble burst. He asked for months off with pay. When he returned, he sabotaged people's experiments and stole from the lab. Dr Brooks asked him to resign but he refused and made threats to her. Dr. Brooks was my surgeon for my Radical Mastecomy. 1 week later she wanted to do more surgery on me, so I had outpatient surgery with a re-section at a surgi center. Horrible time then she wanted more on the 27th and 2nd. I got a second Doctor Review and they stated no more surgery, my left arm, was almost dead, and I will be having P.T. like the other comment. she never informed me of the risk she also yelled in the o.r. room to the Anesthia that was trying to help me due to a breathing tube issue and had to have local. Dr. Brooks is a wonderful surgeon. I was so scared when I first got the news that I have cancer. My primary doctor referred me to see Dr. Brooks. She spent time talking and explaining to me and my family, and I felt so much better when I left her office. My surgery went well, and I was back to work after just a few days. I will never forget how she gave me hope at a time when I felt like my life was over. I would recommend her to everybody!
I chose Dr. Brooks because she is a very caring Doctor. She answered all of my questions and added additional information. I didn't have any complications, my pain was minimal, and I can't be more pleased that she was my Doctor for breast cancer. I would always recommend her whenever I am asked by other women looking for a great doctor. I fly down, get a rental car and drive to her office when I have an appointment with her. Well worth the time and effort and money. JJ
Went to Brooks for sentinel lymph node removal surgery. Now suffering subsequent pain and loss of motion in my arm. Was not advised of these risks beforehand. Would not recommend Dr. Brooks.
Dr. Brooks performed a lumpectomy with lymph node removal. Her surgical skills weren't the best. I do believe she knows what she is doing but I became very disappointed when several months later wanted to see her for a follow up appointment due to pain and loss of arm motion from surgery. She was only willing to see me if I paid an office fee. I was never informed about possible complications from the lymph nodes removal. IShe never gave me arm exercises to do.
