Dr. Mattam is a great doctor who has helped me a great deal. She is very good a diagnosing and treating (me). I have been with her for over a year and I would highly recommending checking her out for help. Im glad that I did.
The rudest and most condescending doctor. She all but called me a liar when I told her who I was previously seeing. She thought this DR had stopped practicing, so I had to pull out a business card and the website on my phone to "prove" I had been seeing a doctor. She talked over me the whole time. Her personal knowledge of medication and laws about prescribing is flat wrong. But again, I was the liar. She also called me 'borderline obese' (25, 5'4, 130) without any humanity. I left in tears
This was my mother's first visit to Dr Mattam. My mother who suffers from depression and anxiety disorder, as well as mobility problems, was told multiple times to leave her service dog in the car. At the end of her session the dr told her to bring a 'smaller dog' next time. The dr also insinuated that my mother's severe childhood trauma wasn't valid. The dr asked her what she was feeling. When she answered, 'I'm wondering if you can help me' she said, 'I asked you a question. Answer it.'
I saw Dr. Mattam for 3 years, at first in my very sensitive state I found Dr Mattam harsh. However, it was her direct honesty that won me over. The very thing that had been her flaw turned out to be her best feature. She cares about her clients and wants to tell them exactly what she sees as a doctor. She wants every phase of their life to be in better health. It helped me to start making decisions about my life on my own. I will call her if and when I need help again.
Should not be allowed to practice medicine in the mental health field. Every time I saw her it was like she was meeting me for the first time. I've been seeing her for over a year and at my last appointment she actually said "It was nice to meet you" at the end. I have a history of anorexia, and she expressed concern that I've gained weight over the time that I've seen her. She suggested I diet and exercise, when I'm following a meal plan and exercise every day. What kind of a doctor does that?
RUN AWAY FROM THIS DR! Seriously, if I could give this woman negative stars, I would! She is very cold and unfriendly regarding your condition. If you have any previous medications that worked well, it doesn't matter. She WON'T prescribe them. She will question the authenticity of ANY previous diagnoses you've ever had. She will dismiss your needs, not listen, and give her very inappropriate opinions that she should be keeping to herself. If you want actual help & not a lecture, DO NOT see her!
My Daughter is 16 and has Aspergers syndrome. We chose this doctor for convenience and the ability to fill prescriptions. I have taken my daughter there twice. The first time I walked out of her office and said I would never return. Today I had to take her because my wife was unavailable, again I walked out of her office and we will never return. She is the rudest most unprofessional doctor I ever met. I found a new doctor immediately after our appointment. Do not go to this lady!
Omg, Im still in disbelief. Her demeanor was cold, calculated and distant. Within 10 minutes of my Appt she was ready to write a script for Prozac and of course another Appt in two weeks for recent panic attacks. I do not suffer from depression, OCD or other conditions that are best suited for Prozac. Truly a tactic for continued appointments. WHen I refused to commit to seeing her again and declined the prescription, she became hostile and dismissive. And I had to wait a hour for my appt.
She 'diagnosed' me after talking to me for 20 minutes having never seen me before. I walked out of her office, scared and crying. I felt that whatever work I had been doing to improve my mental health had just been trashed. I don't think that any doctor should be prescribing the type of drugs she tried to give to me after only talking with someone very briefly.
